Salvador Dalí

Salvador Dalí, the renowned Spanish artist, is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures of the avant-garde movement. His unique artistic style and innovative techniques pushed the boundaries of traditional art, making him a true pioneer in the field. Dalí's avant-garde approach to art can be attributed to his ability to combine surrealism with elements of symbolism, dreamlike imagery, and a profound exploration of the subconscious mind.

Showcased below are four works by Dalí that we have in our collection. They characterise Dali’s distant and bizarre imagery that challenge conventional notions of reality.

HORST ANTES

(German, born 1936)

Horst Antes is a prominent figure in the world of avant-garde art, known for his innovative and boundary-pushing artistic practices. Born in 1936 in Germany, Antes emerged during a time when traditional artistic conventions were being challenged and redefined. He made a significant impact with his unique style, characterized by his signature "Kopffüßler" (Head-Footer) figures. These iconic, distorted figures, often depicted with oversized heads and stumpy bodies, became a symbol of Antes' exploration of the human condition and the complexities of the self. His works are marked by a raw and emotive quality, challenging viewers to question societal norms and delve into the depths of human existence.
