Literature
Ann Garrould, Henry Moore, Complete Drawings 1977-81, Volume 1, Henry Moore Foundation in association with Lund Humphries, London 1996, cat.no. AG 28.116, pp.194-195. (ill.b&w)(In a letter from Paul Nicholls of Sant’Ambrogio Art Gallery to the previous owner he said that Henry Moore considered this work of a very fine quality. Executed in Paris the artist’s model injured her knee and wore a visible banding).
Condition
Recently this previously highly oxidised drawing was painstakingly restored so it is now almost unrecognisable in comparison. It has been backed on acid free paper. There are historical repairs to the corners, but otherwise it is back to the best condition it can be. The paper size is irregular as you can see from the photos. It is in a deep cream mount behind glass in a decorative hand finished silvered frame with some abrasions and wear. Overall a highly desirable early example from one of the greats of British Art .
